Missing history is unknown time, never assumed to be UAE presence.

Your residency circumstances

Settings describe the assessed period. Changes in home access, permits or employment need a new assessment. Danish nationality alone does not establish UAE tax residency.

Travel journal

Enter each country’s local arrival and departure dates, including both travel days. The same travel date may count in both countries.

CountryArrivalDeparturePurposeStatus

Overlapping stays in the same country are counted once. Future dates must be marked planned. Other-country stays are context only. Cross-country overlaps of more than a shared travel day need correction.

02 / UAE TAX RESIDENCY CERTIFICATE

Turn your records into evidence.

This checklist tracks readiness; only the Federal Tax Authority can approve and issue a certificate.

Your domestic residency routes

Residence and centre of interests: a separate route depends on your usual/main residence and personal and financial interests. Days alone cannot assess it.

Official FTA application & current requirements ↗

Domestic residency and treaty-purpose certificates are different. Do not assume a certificate overrides Danish rules or provides treaty relief.

03 / KNOW THE CONDITIONS

The rules behind the numbers.

DK / 01

180 days is conditional, not a universal allowance.

Where a Danish home is available, stays for holidays or similar of more than three consecutive calendar months, or more than 180 days in any 12 months, can trigger full tax liability from the start of the stay. Work may trigger liability below those thresholds. Travel days count as whole days. This tracker flags work for review; it does not apply a blanket “10 workdays allowed” exemption.

A six-month stay is a separate test.

Without a home, a stay lasting at least six months can still trigger full liability. Short trips abroad for holidays can remain part of the stay. The tracker detects continuous recorded stays, but cannot decide whether separate visits form one legal stay. Record and review short breaks with an adviser.

Skattestyrelsen · Full and limited tax liability ↗
DK / 03

Formally leaving and limited liability still matter.

Your Danish tax status is based on the information you provide in setup. Re-establishing a home or spending time working in Denmark may change that. Danish-source income can still create limited tax liability. Section 33A’s 42 days in six months is a different salary-relief regime for eligible people who remain fully liable, not the default rule for your confirmed situation.

183 days, or 90 days with additional conditions.

Domestic UAE tax residence can arise with at least 183 days in a consecutive 12-month period. The 90-day route also requires UAE/GCC nationality or a valid UAE residence permit, plus a permanent UAE residence or UAE employment/business. Any part of a day counts; days need not be consecutive. Exceptional circumstances can affect counting and require individual assessment.
